The Best Blender Juicer Machines

If you’ve been looking for a good quality blender that can pull double duty to switch over and be a juicer, you’re not alone.

Juicing and smoothie making are HUGE trends with no end in sight.

And since both are becoming more popular with each passing year, you would think there’d be a bunch of really great options out there in this combo machine category.

Yet there just aren’t.

But building a really great machine with excellent dual personalities is actually a tall order.

And there still remains the great debate about which is better for your health:

Smoothies or Juicing?

Owning a juicer blender combo machine would take care of that dilemma now wouldn't it?

Just do both juicing and smoothie make and your bases are covered, right?

So owning one machine that could take care of both tasks would be the ideal way for you to switch back and forth between both processes.

Blender Juicer Combo Machines

It's important to note that the following list of machines are all centrifugal juicers.

Now if you decide that you want a masticating juicer, you'll have to buy it separately from a blender.

And if you don't know what either of those terms means - don't worry - I do explain that to you further down in this article.

Note that each of the products below are linked to Amazon where you can see the best prices, the item listing and customer reviews for yourself:

But before you dive into picking up a combo machine, I feel obligated to point out a little bit more about juicing to help you decide if you really want to get into it at all.

Should You be Making Smoothies AND Juices?

As I mentioned about the juice vs smoothie debate, you'll find it easy to dig up tons of articles published and even studies praising the health benefits of juicing.

And you'll find just as many others on smoothie making and why it should replace juicing altogether.

I personally believe there is great value in drinking both, so that's what I do.

Juicing and smoothies each have a different effect on your body.

But both will inject a lot more nutrition into your diet when you are using a lot of vegetables (especially greens), berries and fruit to make them.

Consider the Pros and Cons About Juicing

Fasting

You can give your digestive system a rest for a day or two by just drinking fresh, home extracted juices. This way you are still feeding your body lots of vitamins and nutrition but are also allowing your digestive system and liver to rest and cleanse.

Concentrated Nutrition

Juicing helps to inject your body with a high amount of vitamins and nutrients that are extracted from the produce. It's a super dose of concentrated nutrition.

You can easily drink the juice made from a large apple, 2 big carrots, 1 celery stick an orange, a small cucumber, a chunk of ginger and small beet all at once but you probably wouldn't eat all of these at one meal.

This is why I go through the trouble to make fresh juice once daily - to get the extra "umph" of nutrients into my diet.

Missing Fiber

One problem with juicing (especially centrifugal juicers) is that it removes the fiber which is so good for so many reasons. Fiber keeps you fuller and slows down the sugars in fruit from absorbing into your system too fast.

The fast absorbing fruit sugars can actually upset your blood sugar levels.

Centrifugal Juicers

Centrifugal Blades

Centrifugal juicers are the least expensive type to buy.

They chew up and grind produce with a series of sharp little teeth spinning at a very high speed.

This causes some heat from the friction and it, unfortunately, damages some of the valuable enzymes.

So your juice has less nutrition than the kind made from a blender or the juice from a cold press or masticating machine.

Masticating Juicers

Masticating Auger

These work slowly by churning fruits and veggies with a slow turning auger. The auger forces the produce against a mesh screen and then presses it through. This squeezes the juice out.

This type of juicer is more efficient at getting more juice out of your produce, plus there's no damage to the nutrients because this is a cold process. All the valuable enzymes remain in tact.

These juicers are more expensive than the centrifugal and NONE come as a blender/juicer machine combination.

Wasteful

A lot of good nutrition is contained in those shredded solids that get spit out by a juice machine. Unless you decide to use it to bake or cook with, it get's tossed out.

You'll need about 3 to 4 times the amount of produce to make one glass of juice versus a smoothie.

For example, you need 1.25 lbs of carrots to yield an 8 ounce glass of juice.

Expensive

Omega Juicer

A really decent quality juice machine like theOmega VRT350 or a Champion, cost hundreds of dollars.

A worthy entry level juicing machine would start at about $320. Then add to that the cost of a top-notch blender costing around $300 - $400 and you can easily climb up over $700 in total cost to have two separate, quality machines.

The Pros and Cons of Smoothies

Health Benefits

When made with wholesome and natural ingredients, a home blended smoothie is much healthier but just as yummy as an unhealthy fast food shake.

Plus, you can add leafy greens, nuts, chia or flax seeds to boost the nutrition. You can't put those things into a juicer machine.

But with a high-powered blender that can liquefy and pulverize all ingredients - including frozen fruit, ice, nuts or seeds - you can incorporate so many healthy things and not even know they are in your smoothie.

Fills You Up

Since you are using whole fruits or vegetables, you will also benefit from the fiber and nutrition in the pulp. Add a scoop of protein powder to improve the nutrition and it can really fill you up.

Certain smoothie blends can even become meal replacements.

Easy to Make

Making a smoothie isn't complicated. Just toss the ingredients into the pitcher and blend for 30 seconds or so. Boom! You are done. Drink and enjoy.

Quick Clean-Up

Cleaning a high-quality blender is way easier than a juice machine. Every juicer needs to be taken apart and cleaned with a brush to get out all the little bits of pulp or fiber that gets stuck in the mesh strainer. It is such a pain and something that I really dislike about juicing.

Not the case with a high-quality blender.

Just add water, a drop of dish soap, blend and rinse (but only some of the high-quality blender brands can pull this off).

Cost Effective

You aren't going to need as much produce as you would when making a glass of juice. So you won't need to buy as much fruit and vegetables for smoothie making. Plus there won't be any pulp to have to deal with.

Calorie Overload

The only real con with making smoothies is possibly overdoing calories from certain ingredients.

Adding in things like high-fat yogurt or cream, nut butter or lot's of sweetener can lead to a very high-calorie smoothie. So be mindful of this!

2 Best Blenders for Whole Juicing and Smoothie Making

You can actually make WHOLE juices with a high powered blender, like the 2 listed below.

The term "whole juice" simply means that none of the pulp is removed.

The machine will blend up all the ingredients, along with some added water to create a whole juice - much like a smoothie.

You Have 3 Options Now

1.  Make Juices and Smoothies with One Machine

If you believe that you do want to make juices and you want a blender for all its other uses - including smoothie making - the Breville Juice & Blend might be the best choice for you.

As long as you'll be happy with centrifugally made juices, this is an excellent choice and certainly the best machine of its kind.

2.  Cold Pressed Juice with a Juicing Machine

To get the ultimate benefit from juicing, you can do like I did and get a cold press juicer machine (mine is the Omega VRT350 as pictured below) and also have a separate blender for making smoothies.

3. Whole Juicing and Smoothies with a Blender

Choose to have just one machine - a performance blender like a Blendtec or Vitamix.

Both of these make really smooth smoothies AND whole juices, so you can skip owning a separate juicer. This will also save you the added work of cleaning a juicer!

vitamix green smoothie blender

Vitamix and Blendtec are the highest quality blender brands you could ever buy.

Using one of these in place of juicer machine means making a nutrition packed whole juice or smoothie.

You will also benefit by by being able to make soup (cooked in the blender), ice cream making and many other wondrous things that only these higher level blenders can pull off really well.

Cheers!
