When you know that  - no matter what - you are going to get a Vitamix blender, the dilemma becomes which Vitamix model is best for you to to buy?

My guess is that you already know the Vitamix brand is one of, if not THE best blenders anyone could ever own.

They're legendary for dependability, offer superb results, and boast the finest overall quality in the blender marketplace.

This is why you want one... 'cause you deserve the best!

Now it just boils down to which Vitamix to buy?

It becomes a matter of picking the best one for you.

With that in mind, let me just tell you that ANY Vitamix blender will be awesome for making smoothies, soups nut butters and so much more…

In other words – you really can’t make a wrong decision.

Let’s just say the ‘most right’ decision should be based on reviewing the extra features found on the more expensive models.

Do you really NEED them?

Do you really WANT them?

And can your BUDGET handle it?

Okay, so after you think about those things, you should try to narrow it down further…

My Quick Pick Suggestion!

If doing a bunch of reading and research is just too time consuming and painful - go with this:

Best buy:  Vitamix 5200 blender

Tons and tons of Vitamix owners have the 5200 model and have been reporting their absolute and complete satisfaction.  Which is one reason why it’s my quick pick.

So why would you consider getting one of the new generation versions or a model with more bells and whistles??

Well, maybe you shouldn’t!

But do keep on reading if you want to sort through more info before deciding this quick.

I’m going to try to lay things out to make it easy for you to get through it all and have a clear winner jump out for you.

 Important VITAMIX Update

Consider the Vitamix Ascent series (new in 2016).

It will  soon replace all the older series of Vitamix and the new containers do not fit any of the Classic or Next Generation Series Vitamix blenders.

Those will become extinct!

Common Features for All Vitamix Blenders

Note that ALL Vitamix C and G Series blenders will have these same features:

  • Jug / Container made of BPA-free copolyester
  • High powered commercial grade motor – minimum of 2 peak horsepower
  • Metal to metal direct drive system (strong & durable)
  • Cooling fan and thermal protection system to prevent overheating
  • High quality stainless steel blades
  • Tamping tool with collar to prevent the tamper from hitting the blades
  • Spill-proof vented lid
  • Cookbook with hundreds of recipes
  • Getting started tutorial DVD

Just so you’ll know, in the rest of this post, I’ll refer to all Vitamix blenders by two categories:

C-Series (for the Classic C-Series models)

Vitamix C series

Vitamix C Series

G-Series (for the Next Generation G-Series models)

From here on, I will cover the following sub-topics:

  • Pre-Programmed Settings
  • Models without programs
  • Size & Space consideration
  • Dry container & smaller liquid container
  • Where to find the best deal

Here we go….

Pre-Programmed Settings or Not?

Both the G-Series and C-Series offer models with pre-set programs.  These include the 6300, Professional Series 500, and the 750 Professional Series.

Note that the C-Series models include only three pre-programmed settings, and the G-Series Professional 750 includes five presets which are: smoothie, frozen dessert, soup, purée and wash cycle.

I personally prefer my Vitamix with manual controls over using most of the pre-programmed settings.

But that’s just me.

I’m a bit of a control freak for certain things – so I myself will not press a button and turn my back on my blender to do something else. I like to watch what it’s doing and manipulate the blending myself.

It’s kind of like choosing to drive a stick shift car instead of an automatic.

Again – that’s just MY preference.

YOU might totally love using the programs and find a great benefit to having them. They can make your time in the kitchen way more productive. Especially if you need to juggle a bunch of tasks.

So think about how much of a time savings it might be for YOU.

And if you just really would like to have them and can easily afford the extra convenience of programmed settings, then pick the one you like best.

 Size and Space Consideration

If counter or cabinet space is a real concern for you, I’d suggest you measure the distance between your counter top and upper cabinets. This is important for those of you who’d like to keep your Vitamix out on the counter all the time.

If you have space where there are no upper cabinets in the way, that could be a perfect spot. But check the base length and width to be certain it will fit in the area you have in mind. If you have a kitchen cart that you could tuck into a corner – that might be a good option too.

which vitamix to buy

The other option is to stow it away in a kitchen cupboard.  But this might not make sense if you are using your machine daily – especially if it’s multiple times per day.

And many folks do!

In fact, once you own a Vitamix you’ll likely use it for more than you’d ever think because of how versatile it is. It takes over from tasks you previously did manually or from using other machines.

That’s just part of why Vitamix blenders are so awesome.

Here are the low profile modes that fit under most upper cabinets:

The Dry Container and Smaller Liquid Container – Do You Need Them?

vitamix-32-dry-container

32 oz Dry Container

You’ll see that some package deals for Vitamix come with a special dry blending container.   It’s a 32 ounce container designed for grinding whole grains into flour and also for preparing dough.

This can be truly fantastic if you are keen on making your own flour from alternative grains.

I myself adopted a gluten free diet, but I don’t like all the pre-mixed flours out there and they can be very expensive.  I love to make oat flour myself from regular large flaked oats.

So if you’ll be grinding up your own flour from whole grains and making dough from scratch – you might consider a package which includes the dry blending container.

Alternatively, you could buy the dry jug at a later date if you buy a C-Series machine. The Vitamix web-site sells it for $184 or you can get from as low as $90.85 on Amazon (free shipping too!).

It’s important to note that Vitamix does not offer the containers for the G-Series models to be purchased separately at this time.

I do like having more than one liquid container since there are some meals where I end up using them both. It’s great not having to stop to clean one out before doing the next thing. For example, make a soup in the big 64 oz container and use the smaller 32 oz liquid container for salsa.

vitamix-liquid-containers-3-sizes

And even though I have a food processor as well, if I need to chop different ingredients and keep the flavors separate, the Vitamix gets used for chopping up some stuff too.

I really like using the smaller container for things like pesto and homemade salad dressing.

Find The Best Deals on a Vitamix

Here’s what I’ve found when it comes to shopping for one of these:

Vitamix Official Online Store

This is the PRICIEST place to buy a machine. Yes they do offer all the model options and a bunch of different packages. But they are selling at full MSRP (manufacturer’s list price). Sometimes they offer free shipping, but you will almost always get that anyway on most other shopping sites.

Costco

Costco doesn’t offer a big variety of Vitamix models.  Normally it’s a bundle or package deal for one the C-Series machine’s like the 5200.  Now I’m a Costco member but I still do shop around and if I find a better deal elsewhere – well, I buy it elsewhere!  The only time I find they have the best price is when they do a limited time special and knock $100 off. Timing is everything and you may not like the package they are offering.

Amazon

Next to the Vitamix online store, Amazon offers the most variety of model options for sale. And EVERY time I do a price comparison, Amazon is the lowest price OR they are at least matching the same low price as someplace else.  The easy way is to buy the model or package you want from Amazon. Mostly they ship for free and Amazon is a reliable and trustworthy retailer.

So hop of the fence and buy the Vitamix that’s best for YOU!  The only thing you’ll regret is that you didn’t get one sooner.

Happy blending
